The Civil Wars confirm second album release

The Civil Wars have put an end to any lingering uncertainty surrounding their future by confirming the release of a second studio album in the summer.

The duo pulled a series of tour dates last year, blaming ‘internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition’ for the move, but insisted new material would still emerge in 2013.

And twin statements uploaded to their official website by John Paul White and Joy Williams have indicated that plan is now coming to fruition.

“Patience is a virtue,” White remarks. “Yours has been appreciated. Here’s to the hope you consider it rewarded.”

“I am very glad to say that new music is coming and I am finally proud of this album,” Williams states. “A lot of soul, sweat and tears went into its creation. I hope you feel the heart in each song, that it might connect with yours. We are, each one of us, all journeying, learning and growing along this ever-evolving path.”

The pair’s debut, ‘Barton Hollow‘, was a Grammy Award winner for  Best Folk Album.
