Red Hot Chili Peppers to start recording new album

redhotchilipeppersThe Red Hot Chili Peppers have plans to meet up in September to begin work on their latest album.

The band released their tenth studio effort ‘I’m With You‘ in 2011, and subsequently issues a series of stand-alone singles last year which were recorded during the selfsame sessions.

And speaking to Billboard, drummer Chad Smith has said the band are about to get cracking on another batch of new songs as the summer draws to a close.

“We’re probably looking at getting together in September and getting on a roll and starting to write songs for the next record,” he said. “We always have little ideas percolating in jams and rehearsal warm-ups and soundchecks and gigs.

“Sometimes we bust into stuff,” he continues on their writing process. “We just kind of play whatever, so we always have those little tidbits. But we don’t have any fully-formed songs until the four of us get in a room together. That’s when the real writing process starts. So, yeah, we’re looking at the fall.”
