Django Django‘s self-titled debut and The Twilight Sad‘s ‘No One Can Ever Know‘ are among the albums shortlisted for this year’s Scottish Album Of The Year award.

The two bands are likely to be strong favourites for the prize with Django Django already securing a place on the Mercury Music Prize shortlist last year, while The Twilight Sad’s fourth record was an automatic entry on to the shortlist, which has been whittled down from 17 acts after a public vote.

“Although there was a strong longlist including some hugely commercially successful albums, the ten chosen for the short list are those that best reflect the range of music made by Scottish artists in 2012,” chair of the independent panel of judges John Williamson has said, almost certainly with Emeli Sande‘s huge selling ‘Our Version Of Events‘ in mind.

“It includes debut albums and ones by people who have been making music for thirty years; solo albums and collaborative projects; genres from folk music to hip-hop. It is perhaps a measure of the collective quality that it is hard to see an obvious winner from the ten.”

The winner is set to be announced at a ceremony inside Glasgow’s Barrowlands Ballroom on June 20th.
