Bill Wyman: Reunion with The Rolling Stones was a ‘one-off’

Bill Wyman has said he is unlikely to ever perform with his former Rolling Stones bandmates again after he briefly rejoined the group in London last year as they celebrated their 50th anniversary.

“I’ve always maintained that you can’t go back to things, and they can never be the same,” the bass player has told the Huffington Post.

“It’s like a school reunion, or Tony Hancock’s Army reunion. If you try to go back and have a relationship with someone, it doesn’t work, and it’s the same musically. It doesn’t work. It was a one-off. Five minutes. OK, never again. No regrets, we’re still great friends.”

Wyman has previously said he was left ‘a bit disappointed’ by the peripheral role he ultimately played in the Stones’ 2012 gigs, remarking that:

“In December 2011 Keith Richards called and said, ‘Come on mate, why don’t you have a jam with us?’. Then they asked if I’d be interested in getting involved in the band for a special occasion. I thought I would get quite heavily involved, so when they said they only wanted me to do two songs I was a bit disappointed.”
