The BBC has revealed the full details of the extensive coverage that will accompany this year’s Glastonbury festival and was first announced in February.

For the first time, those who aren’t able to make it to Worthy Farm will be able to follow events on six stages – the main Pyramid Stage, the Other Stage, and the John Peel, Jazz World, Park and BBC Introducing stages – in full online throughout the weekend.

“The BBC have stuck with us through thick and thin since 1997 and they’ve earned their stripes the hard way,” organiser Michael Eavis has said. “It’s been quite a journey since 97 and to have a complete record of what we’ve been up to over the years is music history gold dust.”

In total, over 250 hours of footage will be streamed online, while 120 live performances are set for broadcast with Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans leading the presenting duties.

“Glastonbury is one of the greatest pop music events in the world and we want to make this year’s coverage the next best thing for everyone who can’t make it in person to Worthy Farm. We aim to broadcast more of the festival than ever before, and reinvent music coverage as only the BBC can for music fans at home and on the move,” controller of BBC popular music Bob Shennan remarks.
