Shane Meadows’ documentary telling the story of the Stone Roses‘ reunion is to receive its premiere in May.

“Making this film, I got to be part of something truly remarkable, the double decade awaited ‘resurrection’ of my all time favourite band, The Stone Roses,” director Meadows has said in a statement.

The four reconciled bandmates – Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and Reni – will be present at the premiere in Manchester on May 30th, with the event being linked via satellite to 100 cinemas across the UK.

“People say that you can’t recapture your youth, it’ll never be the same second time round etc, but that’s utter rubbish,” Meadows continues. “The Roses were never allowed to reach their peak first time around so as far as I and millions of fans around the world were concerned, with this comeback the Roses could be even greater.”

The Stone Roses confirmed their unlikely comeback in October 2011, and saw a subsequent tour of Europe reach its peak with three sold-out, record breaking gigs at Manchester’s Heaton Park in June and July 2012.

“This film isn’t a history lesson, nor is it a two-hour concert film,” Meadows concludes. “It is a film about defying the odds, sticking it to the man and telling the cynics to shut their pie-holes! The Stone Roses are back, baby!”
