David Cameron defies Johnny Marr’s Smiths ban

Stop everything, Prime Minister David Cameron is brazenly flouting Johnny Marr‘s Smiths ban.

The PM has often spoken publicly of his love for the legendary Manchester band, sparking plenty of comment from Marr, who most recently told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme he ‘forbade’ Cameron to like ‘This Charming Man‘.

However, speaking to BBC News, Cameron has said he intends to carry on listening to The Smiths even if he eventually gets ‘the full set’ telling him to do otherwise.

“I’ve now got Johnny Marr and other members of the band saying I’m not able to listen to the The Smiths,” he said. “When I’ve got the complete and full set, even then, I’m afraid, I will go on and listen to The Smiths.”

Johnny Marr releases his debut solo album ‘The Messenger‘ on February 25th. The LP was described by Live4ever in our review as, ‘Less melancholic, more spiky and much more upbeat. It’s the Marr of the here and now’.
