US superstar Bruce Springsteen will become the first act to perform at the new 13,500 capacity Leeds Arena this summer.
The Boss is out on a long tour in support of his 2012 album ‘Wrecking Ball‘, and has been booked to play the venue on July 24th for a special ‘pre-opening’ gig ahead of what had originally been thought to be the inaugural show in September.
“Springsteen has always expressed a love of performing in the UK and, from what I understand, any opportunity to put Leeds Arena through its paces was too much to resist,” Arena sales and marketing director Tony Watson has said.
It will be Elton John who plays the arena in September, with Andrea Bocelli and local band the Kaiser Chiefs following. Tickets for the Springsteen show are priced at £65 and go on sale from this Friday, February 22nd.
More details and ticket information can be found over at the new venue’s official website.
I’m well pleased that I was lucky enough to obtain tickets for this show but can someone please explain how a booking fee of £8.25 per ticket can be justified. It’s cost me an extra £41.25 for a two minute automated transaction. I can’t help but feel it’s yet another example of the ordinary punter being ripped off. I could understand £8.25 for the transaction, but not per ticket.
