Brian Wilson doesn’t expect another return to The Beach Boys

Brian Wilson has said he ‘doubts’ there will be another full Beach Boys reunion again after he, David Marks and Al Jardine were unceremoniously dumped out of the band by Mike Love last year.

Wilson put years of ill-feeling to one side at last year’s Grammy Awards for his first live performance with the group in well over a decade, and subsequently formed a part of a series of tour dates, and the recording of a studio album, as the 50th anniversary of the iconic US band was celebrated in style.

However, Mike Love brought Wilson’s time with the group to an abrupt end last September when he released a statement that read:

“The post-50th anniversary configuration will not include Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks. The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band.”

Wilson said he ‘couldn’t understand’ the decision at the time, and when speaking to the press at the 2013 Grammy Awards after being asked about the possibilty of another reconciliation – a year on from his first reunion appearance with Love – he simply replied: “No, I don’t think so. Doubt it.”
