Vampire Weekend have today confirmed the release date of their third album.
The New York band’s new LP will hit the shelves on May 6th in the UK, and a day later in the US.
As yet, no further concrete details have been revealed, though earlier this month frontman Ezra Koenig did tell Q it has a ‘darker’ feel than its 2010 trans-Atlantic chart topping predecessor ‘Contra‘.
“We created some characters on the first record, some of which are real people, some of which are ourselves, so it’s not so hard to keep following them and see what their concerns are now and how their lives have changed,” he continued.
Those attending South By Southwest this year are likely to be given a preview of the new album after Vampire Weekend became one of the biggest names to sign up for the annual Texas festival when the list of third round acts was recently unveiled.
