Suede will release their first studio album since 2002 in March, the band have confirmed.

Frontman Brett Anderson revealed they were working on new material last year following a successful series of reunion dates, but warned the tracks would not see the light of day unless the group were satisfied with their quality.

Well, it now appears the songs have passed that litmus test, with ‘Bloodsports‘ set to be preceded by the single ‘It Starts And Ends With You’ in February. A free download, ‘Barriers‘, has also been made available today.

“After a year of sweating and bleeding over the record it’s finally finished so we wanted to get some music out there as soon as we could,” Anderson has told NME. “‘Barriers’ isn’t the first single but we are proud enough of it to just chuck it out there and thought that its pulsing, romantic swell somehow summed up the feel of the album quite nicely.”

Suede plan on celebrating the release of their new album with a one-off gig at London’s Alexandra Palace on March 30th.
