The make-up of The Sound City Players – a supergroup formed by Dave Grohl to promote his documentary on the Sound City studios – has been revealed, and it’s a typically impressive gathering.

Dave Grohl will be joined by his former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic, as well as his current Foo Fighters cohorts Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett. In addition, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac and Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s John Fogerty will also play a part, as will Alain Johannes, Chris Goss, Rick Nielsen, Brad Wilk and others.

The collective will make their bow on January 18th at Park City Live, an event which forms a part of the Sundance Film Festival.

The documentary’s soundtrack is due for release on March 12th, and features the studio version of Grohl and Novoselic’s hook up with Sir Paul McCartney. ‘Cut Me Some Slack‘ was premiered live at the 12.12.12 Sandy benefit concert last year, and previewed online soon after.
