Neil Young & Crazy Horse‘s ‘Psychedelic Pill‘ album has jumped fourteen places to top the first UK Record Store Chart of 2013.

Jake Bugg‘s eponymous debut has also climbed to place at #2 this week, with Mumford & Sons one further position back. Elsewhere, Tame Impala and Led Zeppelin are enjoying Top 10 places, while Alt-J’s ‘An Awesome Wave‘ is at #15.

The UK Record Store Chart was one of a number of initiatives launched last year to boost interest in vinyl records, and is compiled entirely from sales registered at Britain’s independent record shops. The campaigns seem to be working, with sales of LPs on the vinyl format reported to have jumped by 15% year-on-year during 2012.
