The Drums‘ frontman Jonny Pierce will go it alone and release his first solo album next year.
The record is a true solo piece of work from Pierce, who has written, recorded and produced. It is as-yet-untitled and is expected to be released early in 2013.
“Some might say it’s strange for a man to bare his soul the way I do on this album but I wanted to do something that exposed me for who I am even more so than anything I have done with The Drums,” Pierce has said of the album.
“I wanted to be as self-indulgent as possible with this album. This is pop done the way I think it should be done.”
With the confirmation of his first solo effort, Pierce has moved to reassure fans that work on a new Drums album is also about to get underway, writing on Facebook that the band are ‘going strong’.
