Reading/Leeds festival confirms first 2013 headliner

Reading/Leeds festival organiser Melvin Benn has delivered on his intention to unveil one of the event’s headliners for next year before Christmas.

Last month, Benn told BBC Newsbeat that he was, “Looking at probably announcing certainly one of the headliners before Christmas,” and has now been true to his word by announcing Eminem as the first Main Stage bill-topper for 2013.

The US superstar rapper joins the previously confirmed Alt-J, who are due to headline the NME/Radio 1 tent, as well as Deftones and Sub Focus. In addition, Boy Better Know are set to top the new BBC Radio 1 Xtra Stage.

Tickets for the 2013 twin festivals remain available after going onsale on November 30th. Until the end of this year, the tickets will be priced at 2012 rates, while organisers are also allowing fans to put down a £50 deposit for any tickets purchased, with the full cost then due anytime before March 31st, 2013.
