Led Zeppelin appear on Late Show…with David Letterman

Led Zeppelin were the guests of David Letterman last night following the band’s, and host’s, celebration at the annual Kennedy Center Honors.

Surviving members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones appeared on a special edition of the US chat show which was aired from Washington D.C but, despite the recent release of their live album ‘Celebration Day‘, spent much of the interview discussing their childhood inspirations – especially legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy – and their break-up in 1980.

Letterman seemed to be taking only a casual interest in the band, and raised some eyebrows by describing the late John Bonham as their ‘drummer who died’, while also choosing to quote Jack Black in order to describe the Zeppelin sound.

Unsurprisingly, there was no hint of a live performance during the show, but fans will be able to witness the group onstage when an edited, hour-long version of ‘Celebration Day’ airs on the BBC this weekend.
