Johnny Marr has premiered a second track which is due to feature on his debut solo album ‘The Messenger‘.
After the record’s title track was debuted last month, Marr has now unveiled ‘The Right Thing Right‘, which is streaming through Soundcloud at this link.
With ‘The Messenger’ set for release on February 25th next year, Marr has recently told BBC 6Music he found himself revisiting early Manchester influences while writing new material.
“When somebody has a solo record when they’ve made records for a long time, there’s a kind of insinuation that it affords you the freedom to be moody or experimental and go off the beaten track, but it appears I’ve done the opposite, in that its all pretty uptempo and 12 tracks that sound good live,” he said.
“I’ve gone back to the sort of energy, trying to capture the energy I had from my influences that I had growing up in Manchester.”
The former Smiths guitarist will take his album out on the road in the UK next year, opening up at the Oxford Academy on March 10th 2013.
