Johnny Marr will play a second hometown date in Manchester next year after adding an additional show to his maiden UK solo tour.
With his album ‘The Messenger‘ due for release in February 2013, Marr outlined the tour details earlier this month, which he plans to open up on March 10th at the Oxford Academy. And now a second stop at the Manchester HMV Ritz has been booked for March 23rd, immediately following the initial date a day earlier. Tickets for the new gig have just gone onsale (9am UK time).
“I didn’t want to be in someone else’s band at this point,” Marr has told NME of his solo plans. “In the past I might have been reluctant to stand up front, and I’ve been lucky enough to be in bands with great singers, so it wasn’t necessary. But this is my band now, and the frontman in my band has to play guitar. I do both.”
