Video: The Rolling Stones premiere ‘Doom and Gloom’ promo

The Rolling Stones have premiered the Jonas Akerlund-directed video for their recent single ‘Doom and Gloom‘, which can be sampled through YouTube below.

The promo commits the Stones’ downbeat, alternate world view to film, and is released after the legendary band’s compilation ‘GRRR!‘ hit the shelves last week.

‘Doom and Gloom’ is one of two new tracks to feature on the greatest hits collection, and was described as containing a ‘…crunching guitar riff which sits comfortably amongst their back catalogue’, and being, ‘perhaps most prominently a heavier progression of the ‘Tattoo You’-era harder edged material’, in Live4ever’s review.

The Rolling Stones are set to play the London leg of their 50th anniversary tour later this month, and will then travel across the Atlantic for shows in New York and New Jersey before 2012 is out.

The touring is expected to continue into next year, with dates in Australia and an appearance at the Glastonbury festival amongst the possible commitments which have been publicly discussed by the group during recent weeks.
