ohnny Depp helped out The Black Keys‘ drummer Patrick Carney and popstar Ke$ha onstage in Los Angeles last Wednesday (November 14th) as a host of stars celebrated the music of Tom Petty during a two-and-a-half-hour concert.

Fan footage of the group’s ‘Last Dance With Mary Jane‘ cover can be viewed below.

Staged at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, Pettyfest aimed to raise money for the charity Sweet Relief as well as those affected by Superstorm Sandy, and concluded with a second gig last night.

Other musicians who were in town to cover Tom Petty tracks included members of Kings Of Leon, Eagles Of Death Metal and The Strokes, whose guitarists Albert Hammond Jr. and Nick Valensi stepped up for performances of ‘I Need To Know‘ and ‘King Of Pomona‘ before Valensi and Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti aired two of Petty’s all-time favourites, ‘American Girl‘ and ‘Free Fallin‘.

Johnny Depp was also onstage for six further covers, when he was joined by both actors and comedians such as Sarah Silverman and Justin Bartha.
