The Beatles want fans’ contributions for new live film

beatles1An ambitious new project which is aiming to bring together film, image, stories and interviews from The Beatles‘ life as a touring band between October 1963 and August 1966 has gotten underway.

Apple Corps hopes to track down as much material as possible from the near three-year period when The Beatles played 250 shows in 116 cities for the film which is to be entitled The Beatles Live! Project.

According to the press release, the organisers’ ‘ultimate goal’ is to, ‘combine footage, images, music, interviews, and stories in a definitive, emotional and visceral feature film about Beatlemania. This cultural phenomenon not only brought the world together through song, but helped usher in what is now recognized as a golden age of contemporary music.’

An appeal for media from fans has been uploaded to YouTube (below), while more information can be found at Thebeatlesliveproject.com.

The Fab Four’s hectic touring schedule between ’63-’66 documented the worldwide frenzy of Beatlemania, but also resulted in the band becoming increasingly disillusioned with life on the road following a series of incidents and the perceived detrimental effect on their musicianship.

By mid-1966, they had made the decision to concentrate fully on their ever evolving studio work, and would go on to create some of their most treasured albums during the next few years, making only a handful of short live appearances in the process.
