Ronnie Wood on Rolling Stones ticket prices: ‘We need to make something’

Ronnie Wood has insisted The Rolling Stones ‘have to make something’ out of their 50th anniversary gigs in London and New Jersey after the band came in for criticism over the gigs’ ticket prices.

The two shows booked at London’s O2 Arena later this month cost a minimum of £90, while some VIP packages were as much as £950.

However, Wood has said the prices represent good financial sense as the group have already spent millions of pounds on their rehearsals and stage set-up.

“We’ve already spent a million on rehearsing in Paris” he told The Telegraph. “And the stage is going to be another few million. And the lights. We feel no bad thing about ticket prices. We’ve got to make something.”

Soon after the anniversary concerts were confirmed, Keith Richards also defended the charge to see the Stones live in England for the first time in over six years, saying the ‘something’ they will make from the shows – expected to be a profit of around £16m no less – ‘sounds about right’.
