Local band the Kaiser Chiefs will perform a one-off concert at the Leeds Arena when the new venue opens its doors next year.

The 13,500 capacity complex has been under construction since early 2011, and will finally provide Leeds with a major entertainment facility when it is due to begin hosting events in September next year.

“Having played everywhere in Leeds from the Duchess (RIP) to Elland Road, we are massively happy that Leeds has built somewhere new for us to play,” Kaiser Chiefs bass player Simon Rix has said of the gig, which will take place on September 13th, 2013.

“Looking forward to opening Leeds arena next year, it’s going to be bigger than Ken Bates’ legal bill.”

The Kaiser Chiefs will be out on the road in the UK throughout February next year beginning at the Carlisle Sands Centre on the 11th, and will also perform at the Brixton Academy in London on March 1st.
