Jimi Hendrix’s 1969 Woodstock gig to get cinema release

Jimi Hendrix‘s classic performance at the 1969 Woodstock Festival will receive a cinema release around the world next month.

On November 29th and December 4th, a digitally restored, 5.1 audio surround mix version of the concert will be screened in over 30 UK cinemas and many more worldwide to mark what would have been Hendrix’s 70th birthday.

The documentary Live at Woodstock, featuring interviews with Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, as well as Eddie Kramer and Woodstock promoter Michael Lang, will be screened along side the performance.

“This film reflects a legendary event in our history as well as a true pinnacle of Jimi’s career,” Janie Hendrix has said. “We celebrate his 70th birthday as we continue to celebrate his legacy.”
