Dave Grohl has joined Queens Of The Stone Age on drumming duties while the band record their new album, Josh Homme has revealed.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 last night (November 6th), Homme broke the news that Grohl is in the studio with Queens Of The Stone Age due to the apparent departure of drummer Joey Castillo.

“Grohl and I have this wonderful musical relationship which we don’t have with other people,” Homme said. “It’s a very cool and comfortable position.”

Dave Grohl previously hooked up with Queens Of The Stone Age for their 2002 hard rock classic ‘Songs For The Deaf‘, while Homme and Grohl also formed the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures with Led Zeppelin‘s John Paul Jones back in 2009.

Queens Of The Stone Age’s long-awaited sixth studio album will follow the band’s 2007 record ‘Era Vulgaris‘, which peaked at #7 on the UK Album Chart and also made the Top 20 in the US.
