Alt-J have triumphed at this year’s Mercury Prize ceremony in London thanks to their album ‘An Awesome Wave‘.

South East London’s Crushed Beaks formed over an appreciation of old-school and cult horror films. Their new video for “Breakdown”, directed by Jonny Sanders, finds the duo’s horror-inspired lyricism set to an escalating garage-rock rush infused with a blood splash of classic Northern Soul.

Vampire Weekend celebrated Halloween yesterday by handing the new track ‘Unbelievers‘ its live debut. The performance has been uploaded to YouTube and can be viewed below.

Alt-J are still most bookies’ favourites to take home the Mercury Music Prize when this year’s winner is unveiled at a London ceremony tonight (November 1st).

Reading/Leeds festival organiser Melvin Benn has said he hopes to publicly unveil the first headliner for next year’s event before Christmas, and has also revealed plans to add ‘two or three’ new stages to the twin festivals’ 2013 set-up.

Coldplay‘s new concert film Live 2012 will received its premiere in 50 countries around the world on one night later this month.
