The Rolling Stones and the White Stripes are among the first acts to announce special releases for the inaugural ‘Back To Black Friday’ event which has been organised by the people behind the annual Record Store Day initiative.

ABKCO/Universal Music Group plan on re-releasing The Rolling Stones’ debut EP on 7” vinyl – the first time the extended player will be available in its original format since 1964. The tracklist will comprise ‘Bye Bye Johnny‘, ‘Money‘, ‘You’d Better Move On’ and ‘Poison Ivy (version 2)‘.

In addition, Jack White‘s Third Man Records label will issue three White Stripes singles on coloured vinyl, including a special version of ‘Hotel Yorba‘ recorded live at the Hotel Yorba in Detroit back in May 2001. My Morning Jacket and The Lumineers have also unveiled details of their own vinyl releases for Black Friday.

“Five years ago when Record Store Day helped, and guided, the re-launch of vinyl we had no idea where it was going,” Michael Kurtz, co-founder of Record Store Day has said about the upcoming Back To Black Friday event. “Looking at this year’s wonderful vinyl offerings, you can see just how far we’ve come. There are some real treasures in here.”

Black Friday is considered a separate entity from the annual Record Store Day celebrations, and will take place on November 25th with stores in the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Holland and UK all taking part.

Earlier this year, the likes of Noel Gallagher, the Arctic Monkeys and the Sex Pistols were just some of the many acts to prepare special one-off releases in support of Record Store Day, while in the UK, a dedicated Album Chart, compiled entirely from sales registered at independent record shops, was launched soon after.
