Sir Paul McCartney is well underway with new recording sessions and has been working with the respected producers Mark Ronson and Ethan Johns.
According to the latter, the ex-Beatles legend has been writing new material which is ‘very different’ to that which made up his recent ‘Kisses On The Bottom‘ LP, when a small selection of original compositions was mixed with covers of traditional classics.
“This is very different to the last album,” Johns told NME. “We’ve done two sessions already and the third is in a few weeks. It’s sounding great. He’s still one of the most extraordinary recording talents.”
“There’s a song on the record called ‘Hosanna’ which is absolutely heartbreaking – just Paul and an acoustic guitar. It’s gorgeous. I know he’s also been in the studio with Mark Ronson, which I imagine is going to be quite current-sounding.”
Johns added that he is unsure what Sir Paul has in mind for the new tracks, commenting that they could be set for ‘something else entirely’ than a straight-forward studio album.Just Published:
