Sir Paul McCartney and Liam Gallagher were just some of the stars in attendance for the premiere of the newly restored version of The Beatles‘ 1967 Magical Mystery Tour film.

The premiere took place on London’s South Bank on Tuesday (October 2nd) and arrived ahead of the restored movie’s official release on October 9th. A remixed soundtrack and special features which include deleted scenes and interviews with the cast and crew are also set for inclusion, while an expanded deluxe boxset edition will come complete with a 60-page book and 7″ vinyl EP.

The Magical Mystery Tour was produced at the height of The Beatles’ cultural influence in 1967 following the release of ‘Sgt. Peppers…’ earlier that year. However, when shown in black and white on UK television that Christmas, the the film was met with an unusually negative response from both critics and viewers alike, and quickly fell out of print.

In contrast, the official soundtrack – which contained a mix of original compositions and past singles – was another commercial hit for the band, particularly in the US.
