Nirvana, The Shins and the Velvet Underground are among the latest acts to join the party for next month’s ‘Black Friday’ initiative.

‘Back To Black Friday’ has been organised by the people behind the annual Record Store Day events and, as previously reported on Live4ever, will this year include new vinyls from the likes of The White Stripes and The Rolling Stones.

And now, several other bands have confirmed their own special releases, with Nirvana planning a 20th anniversary re-release of ‘Incesticide‘ which has been remastered from the original analog master tape and recording sources by Bernie Grundman.

The Velvet Underground will issue ‘Velvet Underground & Nico – Scepter Studios Acetate‘ on 180g vinyl, which will be limited to 5,000 copies and stamped with an individual number. The vinyls will feature rare, April 1966 Scepter Studios recordings of tracks which later comprised the familiar ‘…Nico’ LP.

“Five years ago when Record Store Day helped, and guided, the re-launch of vinyl we had no idea where it was going,” Michael Kurtz, co-founder of Record Store Day has said of the upcoming Back To Black Friday event. “Looking at this year’s wonderful vinyl offerings, you can see just how far we’ve come. There are some real treasures in here.”

Other one-off releases will come from The Gaslight Anthem who are to offer up a 10″ red vinyl of ‘Hold You Up‘, containing three previously unreleased acoustic tracks, a recording of Joe Strummer‘s emotional live reunion with Mick Jones in 2002 entitled ‘Live at Action Town Hall‘, and Swift Sessions versions of two tracks which feature on The Shins‘ recent ‘Port Of Morrow‘ album.

Black Friday is considered a separate entity from the annual Record Store Day celebrations, and will take place on November 25th with stores in the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Holland and UK all taking part.
