Work on new Kings Of Leon material is progressing quickly and could result in an album being finished early next year, according to the band’s bass player Jared Followill.

The group’s future appeared to have been in some doubt following the messy end to the promotional duties for their 2010 record ‘Come Around Sundown‘, but the various Followill family members have been robustly positive about the prospects for a new album, and now appear to be emphatically delivering on those promises.

“We are in the writing process right now and it’s coming along pretty quickly,” Jared has told BBC 6Music. “We’ll definitely get into the studio but you know we have no plans of finishing it this year but definitely early next year, so I think people should expect something from us sooner rather than later.”

Released in October 2010, ‘Come Around Sundown’ continued Kings Of Leon’s new-found huge commercial success, while also cementing their move into safe, radio-friendly rock.
