Muse have said they will continue to do all they can to keep ticket prices relatively low after The Rolling Stones came in for criticism regarding the cost of their London and New Jersey comeback gigs, which could setback fans as much as £900.
“We’ve always tried to keep prices as low as we can so people can come and watch us,” bassist Chris Wolstenholme is quoted as saying in the Daily Star. “What’s reasonable for one person isn’t reasonable to another, but there really is only so much money a band needs.”
“It’s important to make some money but we don’t always break even because the most important thing is to go out and play live. We could earn more if we wanted to by cutting production costs, but it’s not about that.”
After the Stones’ initial 50th anniversary dates were officially confirmed last week, guitarist Keith Richards insisted they were not out to overprice their fans, but admitted a payday of around £16m sounded ‘about right’.
