Muse are hoping their new album ‘The 2nd Law‘ will help them to find a level of success in the United States enjoyed by Coldplay.

Quoted in the Daily Star tabloid, the band’s frontman Matt Bellamy said:

“Coldplay are the only English group to have had real success there in the last 15 years,” while bassist Chris Wolstenholme added: “You don’t think about it when you start, you’re just content to be recognised on home soil. But then you want something more.”

‘The 2nd Law’ entered the US charts at #2, one place behind Mumford & Sons, who themselves are enjoying a significant level of success State-side following the breakthrough debut record ‘Sigh No More‘.

Later, Bellamy spoke of his ‘disappointment’ that the hugely diverse nature of their sixth studio effort didn’t stretch to featuring any ‘acoustic’ tracks.

“I’m disappointed that we don’t have many acoustic tracks, more quiet moments,” he continued. “When I left the studio after having laid the foundations for the single Madness it was sparse. When I returned two days later, Chris and Dom Howard had put absolutely everything on it.”
