Mumford & Sons not interested in playing stadiums

Mumford & Sons singer Marcus Mumford has insisted the band are not interested in making the step up to stadiums despite their ever growing popularity on both sides of the Atlantic.

When asked during an interview with GQ whether being labelled ‘the new Coldplay‘ due to their success in America is ‘appealing’, Mumford replied:

“Oh, God. Is that appealing? Not really. No disrespect to Coldplay, but we want to do things pretty differently. It’s not about being as big as we can be. We don’t want to conquer anything. We just want to play good shows. We may change our minds but stadiums are something we never really want to do. Arenas are plenty big enough.”

And when bandmate Ted Dwayne contended that their upcoming gig at London’s O2 Arena will be ‘good’, Mumford continued: “Not interested, sorry. I wouldn’t have purchased the banjo if size mattered to me.”

Mumford & Sons will kick off their so-called ‘Tour Of Two Halves’ in Torquay on November 21st.
