Morrissey has been forced to cancel a series of concerts in the US after his mother fell ill over the weekend.

The singer immediately took the decision to fly back home to the UK upon receiving the news on October 20th, and has now postponed gigs in Pittsburgh, Columbus, Chicago and Flint, all of which were due to take place this week.

In a statement released by a representative, Morrissey has told fans he plans to re-schedule the affected dates, and will resume the tour in Minneapolis on October 29th.

“Events for this forthcoming week are postponed – but not cancelled – as Morrissey has returned to England where his mother has been hospitalized and is unwell,” the statement reads.

“Those who have already purchased tickets for the dates in Pittsburgh, Columbus, Flint and Chicago are encouraged to hold on to their tickets and look out for the rescheduled dates. The new dates will be announced within the coming days. The remainder of the U.S. tour will be unaffected, resuming in Minneapolis on Oct 29.”

  1. Morrissey is a real trooper hanging in there through the thick and thin. Hope he keeps going as his music is really great. Hope his mom is doing better! Thanks for the memories -
