Deep Purple, Rush and Kraftwerk are amongst the acts nominated for the 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

The bands are joined by Chic, Albert King, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Marvellettes, The Meters, NWA, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procul Harum, Public Enemy and Randy Newman on this year’s shortlist.

In addition Donna Summer, who sadly passed away earlier this year, has also been nominated after Jon Landau, chairman of the Hall Of Fame’s nominating committee, told Rolling Stone at the 2012 event of his regret that the iconic disco singer had not been nominated prior to her death.

“There is absolutely no doubt that the extraordinary Donna Summer belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” he said. “Regrettably, despite being nominated on a number of occasions, our voting group has failed to recognise her – an error I can only hope is finally and permanently rectified next year.”

The 2013 inductees will be confirmed on April 13th next year at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The voting process, which now also includes the general public, continues until December 5th.
