The Rolling Stones are planning to warm up for their comeback shows in London and New Jersey later this year with a handful of tiny club gigs which are likely to be billed under their ‘Cockroaches’ alias, according to Ronnie Wood.
Live Nation, the company behind the Hard Rock Calling and Wireless festivals, will no longer stage its events in Hyde Park after a series of run-ins with the local council and residents during the past year, reports The Guardian.
Huntington Beach at the turn of the century is a long way from Memphis at the tail end of the 1950’s, but you would never be able to tell by looking at Nick Waterhouse.
With his horn-rimmed frames, buttoned-up Brooks Brothers suit, and clean-cut crop, the 25 year-old southern California native has considerably less in common with the skate-punk slackerism of his own generation than he does with the scotch-&-water swank of his parents’. On stage at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles last Sunday night, Waterhouse continued to look every bit the part of vintage soulman.
The Vaccines have added a series of additional UK tour dates around their previously announced headline gig at the O2 Arena in London on May 2nd.

After being one of the regular subjects of his laconic tongue over the years, Keane seem to think they have finally got one back on Noel Gallagher after winning the Best Video prize at yesterday’s (October 22nd) Q Awards.
Keane picked up the gong thanks to the promo for their single ‘Disconnected‘ ahead of Noel Gallagher’s ‘Everybody’s On The Run‘, while Arctic Monkeys‘ ‘R U Mine?‘, ‘Runaways‘ by The Killers and Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Starships‘ were the other nominees to miss out.
And, when speaking to BANG Showbiz after their win, Keane singer Tom Chaplin said: “It’s always good to put one over Noel. Although I think secretly he loves us! Although I don’t think these events should be competitive really.”
“Q is one of the few magazines left that has real artistic integrity. It’s nice that they’ve nominated us as part of that. Inevitably I think about what I might say. My brain throws up lots of ridiculous things that I’m going to say and then when I get there they all go out of my head.”
Here’s Keane talking about their award winning music video “Disconnected”:
Biffy Clyro will take their forthcoming double album ‘Opposites‘ out on the road next year for a lengthy tour of UK arenas.
