The Pogues will mark their 30th anniversary with a Best Of CD and live DVD release later this year.

The current Pogues line-up of Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacey, Jem Finer, James Fearnley, Andrew Ranken, Phillip Chevron, Terry Woods and Darryl Hunt are still touring sporadically, and will play two sold-out shows at the Olympia in Paris later this month. It is these gigs which will be filmed for the DVD, with the release following on November 12th through Polydor. As yet, the the CD’s tracklisting has not been confirmed.

After becoming regulars on the London punk scene in the late Seventies, The Pogues eventually grew out of the founder members’ various other musical ventures of the period, and played their first gigs in late ’82 under the original Pogue Mahone banner.

The unique blend of traditional Irish folk and raw punk power quickly won the band a loyal cult following, and with their name now shortened to The Pogues, that stunning blend of such musical polar opposites was expertly realised on the band’s classic 1984 debut album ‘Red Roses For Me‘.
