Armstrong recently had a very public meltdown at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas when organisers cut Green Day’s set short due to timing issues, telling the crowd that: “…I’m gonna play a fucking new song. Fuck this shit. Give me a fucking break. One minute left. You’re gonna give me one fucking minute?”
And now, a statement on Green Day’s official website has revealed Armstrong is entering rehab, and has also apologised on his behalf to those who attend the iHeartRadio Festival.
“Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse,” the short statement reads. “We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.”
