Foo Fighters‘ frontman Dave Grohl has made various clips from his forthcoming Sound City Studios documentary available to sample online.

The videos, which can be found over at the official Sound City YouTube channel, feature a number of musicians including Trent Reznor, Frank Black and Lars Ulrich discussing their memories of the legendary recording venue.

Dave Grohl has a long history with the Californian studios, having recorded there briefly with the Foo Fighters in 1998. His chief association with the venue stretches back to his time in Nirvana however, who recorded the landmark ‘Nevermind‘ LP there seven years earlier. When putting the documentary together, Grohl invited his former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic and ‘Nevermind’s producer Butch Vig back to Sound City to reminisce on the sessions.

Over the years, various other now-classic albums, such as Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Rumours‘ and Neil Young‘s ‘After The Gold Rush‘, have been principally laid down in Sound City, while more recently bands such as the Arctic Monkeys and Death Cab For Cutie have also spent time in the studio.
