British soul-singer Michael Kiwanuka is excited to announce an additional New York date at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 21, a few days after his recently announced fall tour kicks off in New York City at Webster Hall on September 18. Following a short yet successful run in June, Michael will be heading out on the road for his first lengthy coast-to-coast US tour. These two New York shows will be Michael’s third and fourth time performing in NY.
Following the triumphant return to NYC, Michael will then play a number of East Coast dates before heading to the West Coast, including a performance on October 9 at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. He will be performing songs from his debut album Home Again, which will be released on CD July 17 through Cherrytree Records.
Home Again was produced by Paul Butler from The Bees in his home studio on the Isle of Wight. The album takes Michael’s effortless melodies, observant lyrics and smooth voice and builds them into timeless and rootsy folk-inflected modern soul. Michael and Paul played most of the instruments on the album. Home Again was released in March in the UK to great acclaim, debuting as a Top 5 best seller.
Unlike the UK release, which included ten songs, the US version features 11, with the addition being the Dan Auerbach-produced “Lasan.”
Born and raised in North London by Ugandan immigrants, Michael’s music is drawing comparisons to Otis Redding, Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye. Earlier this year he topped the BBC Sounds of 2012 list, joining the ranks of previous winners including Adele, Corinne Bailey Rae, 50 Cent, Ellie Goulding, and others.

For such a small and isolated island, Iceland keeps producing musicians and Of Monsters and Men are the latest act to set sail from their Nordic homeland in search of success.
Released a year ago in Iceland, debut album ‘My Head Is An Animal‘ finally introduces these shores to their brand of semi-psychedelic folk-pop.
However, as has become common in more recent years, Of Monsters And Men eschew the intimacy propagated by the folk artists of yore, and like contemporaries such as Arcade Fire and (what may be considered a slightly less than favourable comparison) Mumford and Sons, inflate their songs with one eye fixed firmly on the stadium.
