American heavyweights Neil Young, the Foo Fighters and The Black Keys will headline a concert in New York’s Central Park next month as part of the Global Festival, which aims to raise both money and awareness for initiatives that work towards ending poverty around the world.

The event will be held on September 29th at the Great Lawn in Central Park, and will also include performances from the likes of Band of Horses and K’Naan. Tickets for the concert are free and will handed out through a lottery system to people who ‘perform various charitable actions’.

The festival’s expenses are being taken care of by various organisations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Sumner Redstone Charity Foundation, UNICEF and Rotary International.

Band Of Horses’ appearance at the charity gig will arrive shortly after the release of their long awaited fourth studio album ‘Mirage Rock‘, which is due to hit the shelves on September 17th through Brown/Columbia Records.
