Lavers has released its new single, ‘Our Little Empire’, on the back of national coverage in Australia. It’s the first track to be taken from the brother-duo’s 7-track EP, ‘Endless Corridors’, which was written, recorded and produced out of the basement of their family home. After getting the music recorded, Dominic and Sebastian Lavers took up a residency at Studios 301 in Sydney to have the record mixed by Simon Todkill (Kanye West, Nantes, The Griswolds).”

“London based and formed around eighteen months ago, The History Of Apple Pie line up is centered around the songwriting partnership of Stephanie Min (Vocals) and Jerome Watson (Guitar) together with Kelly Owens (Bass), James Thomas (Drums) and Aslam Ghauri (Guitar). Expanding on the guitar aesthetic of their heroes – Sonic Youth, Radiohead and Blur – their infectious fuzzy pop has seen them quickly build up an ever growing fanbase of critics, punters and fellow musicians alike.”

“Athens-based indie pop duo Sad Disco are releasing their first double A-Side single “Hurt/Honestly” and share it for free download. ‘Honestly’ is followed by an atmospheric and stylish music video, directed by talented Greek filmmaker Stathis Mourdoukoutas. All the scenes in the video were shot in the abandoned hotel named Xenia, at the top of Parnitha mountain.”

“Following on from the controversial video for ‘26/27’, up-and-coming Bristol five-piece Idles have released another strange clip for ‘Germany’, taken from their forthcoming ‘Welcome’ EP out 6th August. Lurching forward from ‘26/27’s immediate anthemic smoke, ‘Germany’ suddenly bursts out into an effervescent stream of angular guitars and Joe Talbot’s impassioned howls before gathering pace atop a chorus of wall-of-noise instrumentation.”

“Following the buzzing reception to ‘Para’ last month, Calexico have unveiled a second new track from their forthcoming sixth studio album ‘Algiers’, entitled ‘Splitter’. Set for release on September 10th, the album ‘Algiers’ will be released on City Slang in Europe and Anti in the US and is accompanied by a one off show at London’s HMV Forum on September 18th.”

“In the mid-1990‘s, Euros Childs was the teenage frontman of Peel Show stalwarts Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci. That much-loved band were renowned for their unique ability to reach beyond the confines of their own times and tap into the unfettered pastoral spirits of such then-neglected maverick forebears as Kevin Ayers and Robert Wyatt. Two decades later, Euros Childs has become just that kind of inspirational figure himself.”

“Newcastle band The Longsands are set to release their new single ‘Worlds Collide’ on September 3rd through Unknown Soldier Records. ‘Worlds Collide’ is the latest serving of anthemic guitar-fuelled rock, taken from the band’s recently released debut album ‘Meet Me In Spanish City’. Taking inspiration from the likes of The Jam, The Stone Roses and Oasis, ‘Worlds Collide’ showcases the band’s stirring sound. Crammed with melody, musicality, and plenty of hooks ‘Worlds Collide’ is an instantly engaging anthem from The Longsands who are turning out to be one of the most important emerging bands in the UK this year. Despite not being afraid to wear their rich influences on their sleeve, The Longsands succeed in making a sound that is distinctly their own.”

“ONE”, as the film is called, is a poetic tapestry incorporating various threads interwoven on several levels, integrating and complimenting Ane’s delicately composed branches between hope, rage and grief. A heavy period of post-production is now rolling with the other chapters before the film is fully released in the fall. The film is produced by Hobby Film Stockholm in cooperation with, among others, Riviera Post Production and Ljud & Bildmedia, with the theatre giant Ivar Wiklander appearing as the main character. Ane Brun will play live at Bestival on the Isle of White, September 7th.”

Paws bash out infectious, lo-fi, garage pop-rock that can quickly shift from cute melancholia to an unnerving territorial roar. On top of the pulsating fuzzy noise the three-piece produce, sit dreamy melodies that bare the bones of their author. Lyrical topics slide between sarcastic self-analysis and, onto more so than often, brutal home truths.”
