Libertines’ Pete Doherty and Carl Barat to write new material in Thailand

Pete Doherty has said he is planning to return to Thailand with his former Libertines bandmate Carl Barat in the near future to ‘do some writing’.

Doherty was asked to leave a rehabilitation centre in Thailand early last month after being described as a ‘disruptive influence’ during his time in the clinic, which he entered in a bid to curb his well publicised drug addictions.

And now Doherty has told online TV show Hernu & Harris he plans to head back there with Barat very soon. “I’m just going home, since I got back from Thailand I haven’t been home, just lurking in London,” he said. “I need to go home to put my feet up.”

“I spoke to Carl last night and he’s going to come out to Paris tomorrow and maybe we’ll go back out to Thailand together and do some writing.”

The chances of a more permanent return for The Libertines seemed strong after a successful series of reunion shows in 2010, but as yet nothing more has come to fruition since the brief comeback.
