Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has admitted he ‘had a meltdown’ after embarking on a long tour of the US before the birth of his first child.

“I had a meltdown,” Meighan has told The Sun of his experience.

“Not a complete breakdown but I just lost it through the realisation of what was going on in my life. I went a bit mad for a couple of days. I panicked. I’ve never had that before. And I was at breaking point.”

“The band were there for me and crying helps. I cry a lot and I’m not ashamed to say that but America was hard. It was nine weeks of non-stop touring. But we’re doing all right there now, so it was worth it and we’re going back there in the autumn.”

Kasabian will headline the 2012 Reading/Leeds festival later this month, topping a day’s bill which also includes the likes of The Vaccines, The Shins and Mystery Jets.
