Graham Coxon: No more new Blur tracks ready for release

Graham Coxon has revealed Blur‘s tracks ‘Under The Westway‘ and ‘The Puritan‘, recently issued as a double A-side to mark their headline gig at London’s Hyde Park this coming Sunday (August 12th), are not the tip of the iceberg, and that the band instead have no further completed songs ready for release.

“No, that’s it really,” Coxon told Shortlist when asked about the possibilty of any other new Blur releases.  “Sorry, but there just aren’t any more. My only hope is that we carry on doing what we really want to do. That’s it.”

“I don’t think we like having things pencilled in too much or feeling pressured into anything. That’s our relationship now. We record when we want to see each other and try something. There’s no point in forcing it if it doesn’t feel good.”

Coxon also discussed the relationship between the four bandmates, admitting they are much more relaxed in each others company these days. “Blur are like my extended family, he continued. “We have ups and downs, much like brothers do, but it’s great that we have that connection and we’re always there for each other. Our relationship seems to be more relaxed these days. The less pressure we’re under to do anything, the better we are.”
