Damon Albarn: Hyde Park gig Blur’s last ‘for a long time’

Blur frontman Damon Albarn has said the band’s headline appearance at London’s Hyde Park later this month is likely to be their last ‘for a long a time’, but has not ruled out pursuing other projects in the future.

Quoted in The Sun newspaper over the weekend, Albarn revealed a new challenge for Blur, such as writing music for a film, could yet see the band continue on beyond Hyde Park, but suggested it is unlikely there will be anymore live appearances for some considerable time.

“Hyde Park is definitely our last gig in this country this year and probably for a long time,” he has said. “But that doesn’t mean it’s the end of Blur. If someone wanted us to do an album for a film I’d definitely be interested in something like that. So that’s the offer.”

Blur will headline Hyde Park on August 12th to mark the end of this summer’s London Olympic Games, with New Order and The Specials also appearing on the bill.
