British Olympic stars including Jessica Ennis, rower Pete Reed and, of course, the newly crowned poster boy for Mod culture Bradley Wiggins, were in attendance last night (August 6th) as The Stone Roses performed an intimate show at London’s Village Underground venue.

The show had been hastily confirmed yesterday morning on Facebook with a message that read: “The Stone Roses are playing an intimate gig this evening in London. Entry to this show is free but strictly limited. We will be giving away a number of tickets today to fans from the London area who bought tickets for Heaton Park.”

And along with the lucky few Heaton Park winners, plenty of celebrities were also invited to the low-key gig, with frontman Ian Brown telling the crowd: “We’ve got the Queen of England in here tonight: Jessica Ennis – and the King: Bradley Wiggins.”

The Stone Roses’ next major outing in the UK will be their appearances at V Festival over the weekend of August 18th-19th, when they will headline along side The Killers.
