Bloc Party now behind in race for UK number one album

After Bloc Party hosted a free gig in London last night (August 22nd) to celebrate their new album ‘Four‘s early rise to the top of the midweek UK Album Chart, latest figures now have the record trailing Emeli Sande‘s ‘Our Version Of Events‘ by just 200 sales.

Emeli Sande’s climb back to the top of the updated midweeks is likely to signify another week of poor sales for albums in the UK, but a late surge for Bloc Party could still see them land their first ever UK number one album when all is officially confirmed on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Noel Gallagher could also be celebrating on Sunday, with his debut solo LP ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds‘ on course to re-enter the top 10 in its 45th week on the chart.

UK Midweek Album Chart, Top 10:

1/ Emeli Sande – ‘Our Version Of Events’
2/ Bloc Party – ‘Four’
3/ Paloma Faith – ‘Fall From Grace’
4/ The Darkness – ‘Hot Cakes’
5/ Jessie Ware – ‘Devotion’
6/ Trey Songz – ‘Chapter V’
7/ Aiden Grimshaw – ‘Misty Eye’
