First track from Mumford & Sons’ ‘Babel’ album to debut tonight

Mike Oldfield ‘hadn’t heard of Arctic Monkeys’ before Olympics opening ceremony

Progressive rock pioneer Mike Oldfield has admitted he had never heard of the Arctic Monkeys before the Sheffield band performed live at the London Olympics’ opening ceremony last month.

American heavyweights Neil Young, the Foo Fighters and The Black Keys will headline a concert in New York’s Central Park next month as part of the Global Festival, which aims to raise both money and awareness for initiatives that work towards ending poverty around the world.

Bradley Wiggins attends intimate Stone Roses gig in London

British Olympic stars including Jessica Ennis, rower Pete Reed and, of course, the newly crowned poster boy for Mod culture Bradley Wiggins, were in attendance last night (August 6th) as The Stone Roses performed an intimate show at London’s Village Underground venue.

Badly Drawn Boy ‘throws harmonica at audience member in Northampton’

Badly Drawn Boy has apparently had another gig to forget, with The Sun reporting that the Bolton songwriter threw his harmonica at a member of the audience during his appearance at the Northampton Music Festival last weekend.

Melvin Benn confirms plans for free beer at Reading/Leeds festival

Reading/Leeds organiser Melvin Benn has made good on his promise to giveaway free beer to this year’s festival-goers after a tough few months for the UK summer season has seen numerous festivals being forced to postpone their 2012 events.
